Mild osteoarthritis, periarthropathy, frozen shoulder, cervical spondylitis. Adult Dose: Topical Adult Approximately one-inch band of gel should be applied to the affected site 3-4 times daily with rubbing till the film disappears. Contraindication: Known hypersensitivity to any part of the preparation. Mode of Action: Diclofenac Diethylamine is systemically absorbed through the skin; it inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, thus reducing the formation of PGE2. Moreover, it also increases the uptake of Arachidonic acid into the cellular pool. Menthol is a vasodilator. It dilates the blood vessels, produces a feeling of coolness and produces analgesia. Methyl salicylate is a known anti-inflammatory agent. Linseed oil is alfalinoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant actions, improves blood circulation at place of application. Precaution: For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not apply on damaged skin. Wash hands after use; avoid contact w/ eyes & mucous tunics. Do not apply on big areas of the body, or use for a long time Side Effect: Usually well tolerated. Extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions. Skin irritation, eg, skin rash, oedema, wheals, papules, scutes, reddening, burning, prickling, itch at the application site may occur. Pregnancy Category Note: The safety of this Gel has not been established during pregnancy. There are no well-controlled studies of diclofenac in pregnant women.
